Brenda and John Blom Collection.
Brenda took interest in Acoma Pottery at the age of 15. With great patience Brenda's grandmother the late Joselita B. Ray taught Brenda this Acoma tradition. Her grandmother told her to pray before you start the process as there is purpose and meaning in pottery because it is our way of life. All pottery has a purpose as does the design and color which all have meaning. Brenda was encouraged by her grandmother to be true, faithful, and happy while working on her pottery. This would make it easy for her paintings to achieve a smooth success. Brenda has been amazed by her own work and continues to try new designs.
Brenda's grandmother received awards in the 70's at the Santa Fe Indian Market and has pottery in the Smithsonian Institute Of Native Arts. Brenda has received awards from the New Mexico State Fair and the Gallup Indian Ceremonials. The numerous blue ribbons and even a "Best of Show" award are indications of her artistic appeal. For Benda, all that her grandmother taught her has come full circle, and for this she is thankful. If you purchase a Brenda L. Cerno vessel then may it bring beauty, harmony, and love into your home and your family.
